News Alert: Federal government to operate under 

unscheduled leave Friday

The Office of Personnel Management announced 

Thursday afternoon that federal employees may 

take unscheduled leave Friday, given the 

forecast of heavy snow around the Washington 

region. This allows those workers not designated 

as "emergency employees" to take annual leave 

or leave without pay without the prior approval 

of their supervisors.
